Believe22 Graphic Design

As a true girly girl, I have this passion for opulent, sparkly, shiny art. I have always said I wanted my bedroom to look like in the inside of Genie's bottle. I could spend hours reading the high fashion blogs, taking in all the taffeta and lace and jewels - and the shoes! Don't even get me started on the shoes.

I needed an outlet for all the inspiration and swirls (as my good friend calls it) in my head, so I created Believe22 Graphic Design as a division of Studio Savoie. It's where I can go and design in my happy place.

The influences in my happy place include funky retro, Victorian vintage, elegant Rococo, unicorns, peacocks, fairies .. you get it. If you are looking for a custom look to your new spa or bakery or wedding, check out some of my stuff at www.NicoleFlores.com/believe22. Check back often, there is new art uploaded regularly. Coming soon are some pieces I did for a wedding with a Vintage Carnival theme!

If you'd like to speak with me about a design, you can get me at one of the links to the right or call me at (616) 439-1303.

Congratulations are in order!

Chris Blount Presnell of Yarn Mountain was one of my first clients when I started Studio Savoie. She came to me with the idea of starting a knitting / crocheting group in a little cafe that opened up in her town and she needed a sign and a business card.

After a change in location, a new business identity and countless hours of stressing and collaborating, she built her idea into a worldwide community of fiber artists and an outlet for natural, American yarns.

Today, Google announced the release of an ad campaign for their Google+ project featuring Chris and her company.

My cup runneth over with pride for my dear friend. Job well done, my friend, job well done.

Bellarina Bakery Logo

This was a logo that due to circumstances beyond the client's control, could not be used. But it is a good study into how a design comes to be.

The company is called Bellarina Bakery, and they wanted to incorporate the initials into the design.

This is the sketch I came up with.

I scanned the sketch into Illustrator and set about re-drawing the art. Then I played with a couple of different type treatments and this is what I came up with.

Unfortunately, this client had a huge opportunity come in while this logo was being developed and in the meantime had to go a different route with their branding. Don't let that deter you though, their work is exquisite and can be found here.

If you are in the market for start up branding or re-designing of an existing mark, look me up here.

My Relay for Life Luminaries

This weekend is the Relay For Life walk in my town. A friend of mine is heading up our team, so I am making a donation, walking and have designed two luminaries, one for my Aunt and one for my Dad. If you aren't familiar with the event (which happens all across the country at different times during the summer), the luminaries are paper bags which are lined up - in our case around the track - and a tea light candle is placed in it at night. The bags glow and make a beautiful tribute to the victims of cancer who are portrayed on the bags.

I pulled out my scrapbook supplies and started to pick out what I wanted to use to decorate the bags, but then I thought that by gluing things on, it would just make a dark shadow when lit from within. So, I pulled some pictures I had, added some decorative elements in Photoshop and printed right onto the bag with an inkjet printer that uses transparent ink. Then I used some translucent ink pads and stamped the rest on. I haven't tried yet, but I'm hoping the candle actually illuminates the photo so they can be seen in the dark.

If you can make it, I highly recommend it.You can find details about our event here, or you can search for an event in your own area. If you can't make it, but would like to make a donation, you can do so from this link as well.

** I forgot to add Sister to my Aunt's luminary. It's on there now =)

Dragons and Fiery Hair by B22

Anita Bougie of Lake Superior's Dragons Nest in Munising, Michigan handed me quite the assignment. For the store, she wanted a card that included a list of symbolism that represented the store's essence. In order to keep the card readable, I incorporated the symbols into one another and kept the color palette monochromatic so one didn't outpower another. My list of keywords included dragon, astrology, triple goddess moon, pentacles, yin yang and ethereal.

We spoke about Miss Bougie's personal services, and how we could incorporate them into the card. It became clear that there was a need for a separate card for her and what she has to offer personally. We decided that this design could speak more to who she is in her crafts and personality - much more feminine and focusing on her two favorite elements, the color purple and the element of fire. Stop into Lake Superior's Dragons Nest and meet Miss Anita - you'll understand the imagery in a second!

Believe22 Graphic Design focuses on highly customized and one of a kind designs that speak of your essence directly to your audience. Great attention to detail and much research goes into every piece to ensure that you are proud to hand out your card to your customers.

Leave me a comment to say hello and let me know what you think of these beautiful cards.

Type Treatments

I just love typography! The right typestyles with the right treatments can make or break a design. Sometimes simple is better, sometimes full on swirls and swashes with metallic or bezel effects are what can take a design from okay to WOW!

I stumbled upon this treatment style today. I love it! What do you think?
